Review of Jeep, Dana & Chrysler Differentials by Larry Shepard

This is the second book I’ve reviewed from CarTech, and I have to say I’m impressed with the consistent high quality of their books. These are the perfect how-to manuals for anyone who likes to work on cars, as they are very straight-forward and easy to follow as well as loaded with some really great info and helpful tips.

Written by accomplished writer and veteran Chrysler engineer Larry Shepard, this WORKBENCH Series manual will teach you everything you need to know about differentials. As always, there are plenty of full-color photos, as well as step by step instructions to guide the reader through the entire process of removal, inspection, rebuilding, and assembly of the Chrysler 8 1/4, 8 3/4, Dana 44 & 60 and AMC 20.

Also covered in this book are instructions on how to:

  • Identify, disassemble and inspect the critical parts of open and limited slip differentials
  • Install ring-and-pinion gears, side gears, bearings, and related parts
  • Select the best differential for a vehicle

This book is a great resource and would make an excellent addition to the library of anyone who loves to work on cars, from professional mechanics to hobbyists alike.
