Chris Mitchell lifts the veil on the prophetic events surrounding Jerusalem from across the middle east. From the Arab Spring in Egypt to the radicalization of Turkey, unrest in Syria and the nuclear pursuits of Iran, every major event surrounding Israel today seems to be fulfilling Biblical end-times prophecy.
As a reporter for CBN News, Mitchell not only knows the ins-and-outs of these eventful stories, for the most part, he was on the ground witnessing them as they happened. This exciting book covers a lot of ground with a lot of historical and factual information to help the reader understand the intricacies and seriousness of modern events in the middle east, including a fascinating primer on the history of the Muslim Brotherhood, as well as Iran, Hezbollah, and Syria.
Mitchell also covers the fascinating history of modern day Israel’s beginnings, starting with the 1917 Balfour Declaration, and the 1920 San Remo Resolution, which recognized the Jewish people’s historic, religious, and cultural connections with the land. He explains that Israel is also fulfilling scripture by by “Aliya” or the return of Jews from around the world to their homeland, by causing the deserts to “bloom”, as well as being a blessing to other nations via humanitarian programs which focus on training cutting edge medical procedures and efficient farming methods to countries around the world.
Mitchell encourages his readers in the possibility of “changing history through prayer”- emphasizing the importance of prayer and it’s proven ability to change the hearts and minds of those who direct our future, sharing stories of spiritual awakenings and revivals worldwide, including visions of Christ and massive conversions of Muslims to Christianity in regions too dangerous for evangelists to venture.
Dateline Jerusalem is a fascinating, intense account of events in the middle east. It’s packed with information, but not at all dull- this is one of those great books that leave you with a much better understanding than when you started, without boring the pants off of you. If you have any interest in the mid-east region and/or Biblical prophecy, I highly recommend you give this book a try!
