In this honest and engaging memoir, Tricia Pimental recounts her adventurous travels both in the States and abroad, as she and her husband move from home to home- battling palmetto bugs in Florida, running a high-end cafe in Nevada, dodging bats in a cabin in New Hampshire …and so much more.
With a willing and humorous attitude, Tricia makes the most of her husband’s nomadic inclinations by experiencing the character and charm each location has to offer and making friends wherever they go- yet all the while longing for a place to finally put down roots.
Along the way she faces a host of challenges, unexpected surprises, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences, like appearing on a popular tv game show and traveling on the famed Orient Express.
A Movable Marriage is a delightfully entertaining read- a hearty blend of humor, adventure, trepidation, and nostalgia that fully captures the spirit of travel. As someone who has recently uprooted from my home state, I was certainly able to empathize with the author in her feelings of apprehension in leaving behind the familiar, and wanting to feel grounded in a place (though I haven’t moved nearly so often, or as far away!), but I was also inspired by the couple’s zest for life and adventure as they traveled throughout the country and the world living life to the fullest.
In a refreshingly down-to-earth and candid writing style, Tricia Pimental honestly details the ups-and-downs of an itinerant lifestyle, and the colorful people and places she and her husband meet along the way. Along with the dazzling descriptions of picturesque France, Italy, Hungary, Portugal, and more, several pages of photos are included in the center of the book from the author’s travels. A Movable Marriage is the perfect book to chase away those winter blahs- a wonderfully entertaining read, highly recommended!

From the Author
“I wrote A Movable Marriage in response to the question I was invariably asked whenever I met someone new: “Why do you and your husband move so much?”
After my initial response declaring that we were neither in the Witness Protection Program nor the military, there was an awful lot to share. So here it is.
A Movable Marriage is for you if you like to travel, armchair or otherwise. It’s for you if you’ve ever had to move and it broke your heart. It’s for you if you’ve ever wondered who it is you’ve been married to for the last couple of decades.
Make yourself a cup of tea or pour a glass of wine and join me on the journey. No passport required. And please drop me a line. I love receiving mail from my readers!”
