Jake King is in a predicament. After finding out that his dad got laid off from a job, he’s worried that his family will have to move away from their beloved hometown of San Francisco. That is, until he comes up with a plan of his own to save the day!

In The Penny Predicament, coin-collecting Jake King sets off on a series of misadventures with his best friend Ben, little brother Alex, and wiener dog Wally, learning valuable lessons along the way about true friendship and what it really means to trust in God.

A fun and engaging book for middle graders with a wonderful faith building message. The Penny Predicament deals with common life issues that many kids today are facing and will be able to relate to, including things like bullying and financial hardships, while at the same time teaching kids how to better face those challenges with morality and integrity. Sadly, you just don’t see many books like this anymore. Author Veola Vazquez hits the nail on the head while providing kids with an entertaining story and colorful characters that will stay with them long after they’ve finished the book. This is an easy read that’s written in a way that will grab, and hold, a child’s attention, and includes several fun illustrations of Jake and his misadventures that kids will love. Highly recommended!
