Author Guest Post: J. Frank James “Dead Money Run”

jfrankjamesMy name is James F. Johnson, Jr. and my father was killed in WWII while flying a B-24 over Hungary during the war. When he was alive he used his middle name of Franklin and liked to be called Frank. When I decided to write books I took the name J. Frank James in honor of my father. The interesting thing is that during the war he was last stationed in Savannah, Georgia which has often been mentioned in a lot of my books as well as an old abandoned airbase called Harris Neck Airfield.

For several years during WWII Harris Neck Airfield was used as a staging point for the detection of German submarines off the coast of Georgia that were lying in wait for the Liberty supply ships leaving the Port of Brunswick in Brunswick, Georgia and the Navy port of Mayport established in 1942 just outside of Jacksonville, Florida.

Author Guest Post: Andrew Joyce

29913910My name is Andrew Joyce and I write books for a living. Johanna has been kind enough to allow me a little space on her blog to promote my new novel RESOLUTION: Huck Finn’s Greatest Adventure. I think it’s a good book, but what do I know? Anyway, I’m kinda shy about tooting my own horn. So I think I’ll turn things over to my dog Danny—Danny the Dog. He always has an attitude and usually does not speak highly of me. But please understand that we co-exist as the old Soviet Union and the United States once co-existed. We tolerate each other. So without further ado, here’s Danny.

Andrew took me away from some very important business of mine to help him out here. There was a duck outside the boat we live on and I had to bark at him. It’s my job.

Now on to the reason why I was so unceremoniously dragged here: For a person who works with words for a living, Andrew has very little to say in real life. He wants me to tout his book for him, but I don’t think I will. Instead, I think I’ll tell you a little about where we live.

I, of course, am Danny the Dog, purveyor of wit, wisdom, and words.

With seven generations of my family in Texas, of course I write about the state I love.  In this new series I’m going more modern-day western than I ever have.  Step into the life of small towns and ranching with me.  I promise, you’ll fall in love with the people of Ransom Canyon.

More than anything else I’ve always thought the people make the stories in books.  I love characters who walk off the page and the reader falls a little bit in love as they discover not only passion, but a bond as deep as time.  I wrote the Ransom Canyon series so that everyone could see what the people of West Texas are like.  Step with me into a small town nestled between huge ranches and small farms.  A place where people fight and help one another.  A place where love runs deep and forever.

Author Guest Post: Andrew Joyce

Many thanks this week to author Andrew Joyce for joining our blog for a special guest post!

My name is Andrew Joyce, and I write books for a living. Johanna has been kind enough to allow me a little space on her blog to promote my new book, MOLLY LEE. The story is a female-driven account of a young naive girl’s journey into an independent, strong woman and all the trouble she gets into along the way.

Now you may possibly be asking yourself, What is a guy doing writing in a woman’s voice? And that’s a good question. I can only say that I did not start out to write about Molly; she just came to me one day and asked that I tell her story.

Perhaps I should start at the beginning.
